PC Emulation

Arcade game played on a xbox 360

What is emulation and what does it do?

Over the last 2 decades playing arcade games on the computer has been made possible with use of computer emulation, this is a technology that allows the games from arcades to be 'emulated' on a computer so that it uses the computers hardware instead of the arcade. This has lead to a generation of arcade based websites and applications which are dedicated to the service of arcade games which would have only been possible to play in an arcade, before emulation was made possible.

On top of this, arcade games can be played more freely without the need to visit an arcade or if the game is no longer showcased in a arcade it can still be downloaded and played on the Internet, ensuring a safe keeping of the game. This has been extended so that consoles and hand held devices also have the ability to play arcade games as well, this has made retro games possible to play across all modernized platforms.

A list of some of the games which can be played online:

Overview:

These websites are dedicated to the service of providing emulated arcade games, they allow for users to experience arcades games just how they should be played back on an arcade machine.
