Evaluation:

The PlayStation Portable was one of the first hand held consoles to bring gaming to life, it allowed for some high quality graphics to be outputted and looked good, played well and the games ran smoothly. In comparison to some consoles it isn't the most powerful however, although the system is small and less powerful it has all the benefits a standard console would have, it can play graphically extensive games without lag and doesn't have much reduction in graphics processing. The PSP was also a reasonably priced system which didn't cost much more then £200 at brand new with games, which was a very competitive price to get the system started and into the gaming market which it was a huge success with its successors and its past models.

Over time as games have become more advanced the system has had to have some chances made with the release of higher end versions such as the PSP Go, which upgraded the specs respectively and gave it again, another boost in the console market for consideration. However although the PSP is powerful, portable and fairly priced, not many people found the need to buy it as they would have a dedicated console at home such as a xbox 360 or PlayStation which would suffice their needs effectively and with the increase of mobile phone technology for games, it was easier to play games on phones rather than splashing out on a portable console + games to play. Overall the console is a nice hand held which has lots of competition with both other hand held and consoles, however it does have the limitations of 'is it actually needed for what I want'. However, if you want a nice dedicated hand held console on the move, this would be your best bet.
